Laser keychain maker
Type a name, pick a shape and where the ring hole goes, and download a keychain, bag tag or ornament for your laser or cutter. A whole class fits on one sheet.
Drawing your keychain…
One piece: the outline is cut, the name is engraved.3 mm plywood or acrylic works well. Add a split ring or ornament hook.
How to make your keychain
- Pick your machine, type the name and, if you like, a second line such as a year or “Class of 2027”. Script names are already joined into one piece.
- Choose a shape and where the hole goes: on the left, at the top, or in the top-left corner (hearts and stars hang from the top).
- Choose a style. Engraved (lasers only): one piece, the name is engraved. Layered: the name is cut as its own piece and glued onto the backing. Name only (script fonts): just the name, cut out as one piece with the ring joined on.
- Laser: download the SVG. Red hairlines are cuts, the black name is an engrave (fill) layer. In LightBurn, xTool Creative Space or Glowforge, set your cut and engrave settings for the material, and cut a test piece first.
- Cricut or Silhouette: download the SVG (or the DXF for Silhouette Studio Basic). Cut chipboard or basswood with a knife blade, or use craft foam or layered vinyl on a blank. Each piece is its own color layer.
- Making a set, like a whole class? Open “Do all the names at once”, paste up to 50 names, one per line, and pick your bed or mat. You get one file laid out on the sheet (more sheets if they don’t all fit), or a ZIP with a file for each name.
- Glue on any layered names, then add a split ring or ornament hook.
