HTV size chart: how big to make your decal

Typical decal sizes for iron-on (HTV) and adhesive vinyl. These are ranges crafters use, not rules: measure your blank, and leave a little room on every side.

Quick tips

  • Measure the printable area of the actual shirt: a size small and a 3XL take very different decals.
  • For kids' shirts, scale to the shirt, not the age: hold the paper pattern against it first.
  • Iron-on is cut face down: turn on Mirror before cutting.
  • Thin script lines under about 1.8 mm are hard to weed. Our files say how small they cut cleanly.
